Who we are
Scare a Vibecoder is run by AF IT Consulting EOOD, Bulgaria. We decide what happens to the data described here (we're the data controller). Our terms cover custom scare purchases.
Analytics
We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to see which personas and scares people pick and share. If you accept cookies, PostHog stores an anonymous id in a cookie so we can count unique visitors. If you decline or don't choose, PostHog stores nothing and each visit is counted on its own. Your browser keeps your cookie choice so we don't ask again. You can change it any time under “Cookie settings” in the footer. Session recording is off.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics, from our host Vercel, to count page views, where visitors come from, and which countries, browsers and devices they use. It sets no cookies, so it runs whatever you choose: Vercel tells visits apart by a hash of the request that it discards after 24 hours, and the counts aren't tied to you or your IP address. As with PostHog, friend names and custom scare links are removed before anything is sent.
Error reports
When something breaks on our server, we send an error report to Sentry, which stores it in the EU. A report says what went wrong and on which page, with friend names and custom scare links removed. If it's about a paid custom scare, it includes the order number so we can fix your order. Reports don't include your IP address or cookies, and nothing is sent from your browser.
Counters
We count how many people have seen each scare, how many visits the site has had and how many people are on it right now. The counts hold no personal data. So we don't count you twice or show you the same scare again, your browser remembers which scares you've seen. Without cookie consent that list is deleted when you close the tab; with consent it's kept in your browser for your next visit. It never leaves your device.
To count who's online, each open tab makes up a random id, kept only until you close the tab, and checks in with it once a minute while you're looking at the page. We forget the id a few minutes after its last check-in.
Abuse limits
To stop bots from flooding the counters or the checkout, we count requests from each IP address for up to an hour, then delete the count.
Friend links
A name you add to a friend link is only part of the link itself. We don't store it, and we remove it before anything is sent to analytics.
Custom scares
When you order a custom scare, we store the first name, app name and description you enter. Once you've paid, we send them to Anthropic's Claude API, which writes the scare. Unpaid orders are deleted after two days; paid scares are kept so the link keeps working. Anyone with the link can open the scare, so we keep custom scare links out of analytics. To report a scare or have it removed, email us the link. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. With each payment we record that you agreed to immediate delivery, as the terms describe. Prices exclude VAT; customers in the EU pay VAT on top, calculated at checkout.
Email list
If you join the early-access list, we store your email address and the persona you picked, and use them only to email you about Scare a Vibecoder. Ask us to delete it any time.
Scare ideas
If you tell us your real nightmare after a scare, we store what you wrote, the kind of vibecoder you picked and which scare you'd just seen. We don't store your name, email or IP address with it, so please leave out anything that identifies you or someone else. We read ideas to write new scares and never publish them as they are. To have one deleted, email us what you wrote.
